• AgriBEE Charter Council

The AgriBEE Charter Council was established in 2008 by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reform.  Dr John Purchase and Mrs Lindie Stroebel (secundus) of the ABC were appointed to the AgriBEE Charter Council.  The functions of the AgriBEE Charter Council are primarily threefold:

  • To consider taking the Transformation Charter to a Sector Code;
  • To oversee implementation of Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment in the sector; and
  • To assist in identifying implementation problems and providing solutions in this regard.
 

Important B-BBEE info: Preferential Procurement Regulations promulgated

Please note that the Preferential Procurement Regulations 2011 have been promulgated on 8 June 2011. The regulations will become effective on 7 December 2011 to allow all enterprises to obtain valid BEE certificates. The promulgated regulations are available on the National Treasury's website under www.treasury.gov.za under latest news, or at Preferential Procurement Regulations 2011. Also see Notes on 2011 Preferential Procurement Regulations. According to a publication dated 31 December 2010 by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Minister of Trade and Industry published an intended amendment of the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice that as from 1 April 2011, only B-BBEE status level certificates issued by Verification Agencies that have been accredited by the South African Accreditation System (SANAS) and Registered Auditors approved by the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA) will be valid. Agribusinesses are advised to study the Regulations carefully for effective implementation.
